Frequently asked Questions

Frequently asked Questions

Q – Can I pay in sterling?
Yes we have two sets of prices and two sets of tills so unlike other border businesses you will get your change in the currency you paid in.

Q - What does the term ‘Free List Suspended’ mean?
When you see the term ‘Free List Suspended’ beside a particular film title, this means that free passes cannot be used. In most cases this applies to the first two weeks after a film’s release date. This is a standard condition of the film distributors, UIP, 20th Century Fox, etc..

Q - Why can’t I find out what times the films will be showing at the Cinema for next month?
First of all film distributors will sometimes move the start date. So we can not usually guarantee a release date.
We also have to analyse the previous week’s films performance and have to decide which to show, and which to drop.

Q - Why are some Cinemas showing Films Lifford Strabane are not?
There are two reasons for this; quiet often the film distributors will only send a limited number of movie prints to Ireland. And these will traditionally go to the bigger Cinemas in Dublin, Galway etc… first. We get most films, they mite just be a few weeks late.
The second reason is we can not always accommodate all films. For example if a new films comes in, we may have to drop it because we have no studio for it.

Q - What do all the different Film Ratings mean?
The full cinema certification categories are now as follows:

    * GENERAL: Suitable for all ages.
    * PG: Suitable for all ages, but parental guidance advised.
    * 12A: Films in this category are, in the opinion of the Film Censor, suitable for those aged 12 and over only. However, children under that age will be admitted if accompanied by an adult.
    * 15A: Films in this category are, in the opinion of the Film Censor, suitable for those aged 15 and over only. However, children under that age will be admitted if accompanied by an adult.
    * 16: Admission is restricted to persons aged sixteen and over.
    * 18: Admission is restricted to persons aged eighteen and over.

Q - Is it possible to get gift vouchers?
Yes we sell gift vouchers all year for any amount

Q - Can I pre book tickets?
Yes you can, please call our office with our credit card details.

Q - Why does the newspapers sometimes have different times than the cinema.
Many people make this mistake, All local newspapers come out between Tuesday and Thursday. However the Cinema week begins on a Friday and ends on Thursday, because this is the day the films are released. The times are not wrong, they just are not showing until Friday
